Reigning champions of the Aviva Premiership Rugby Football Union trophy Harlequins FC have confirmed that a deal has been signed between the club and fellow Aviva Premiership Rugby Football Union club the Northampton Saints for the signing of Phil Doran Jones, who will move to the London club at the end of the season.
The club has also confirmed that the prop has already agreed a two year deal with the club and will put pen to paper on the new deal when the seasons ends.
The 27 year old had long been linked with a move away from Franklin’s Gardens and a move to either one of the London Wasps or The Quins had been rumored. But the forwards coach of The Jimmies Dorian West recently made the announcement via a slip that the champions have a deal in place to take the player to the club and following that Harlequins FC have also announced that they will indeed sign the player.
Speaking on his imminent move, Jones stated that he was extremely delighted to be given the opportunity to play for the best club in the Aviva Premiership. He went on to state that the players of the club always a smile on their faces, which is a sure sign that they enjoy the sport and their style of play.
He went on to elaborate that he is eagerly awaiting the switch and he just cannot wait to play with the squad and improve himself with the training from the coaches and also try to help Harlequins FC in its quest for more glory as well.
However, he admitted that for the time being, he is fully committed to the cause of the Northampton Saints and will ensure they finish the season on a high before he leaves.
