Sean O’Brien, the Ireland Rugby Team flanker has claimed that he is much ahead of schedule as he targets a swift return from injury.
The Irish international dislocated a shoulder in the last game of 2013 playing against Ulster and was ruled out for the remainder of the season, meaning he had to miss the team’s Six Nations Championship triumph recently.
And although the prognosis on the shoulder remains the same, the player is back in light training much ahead of the expected schedule.
Speaking to a radio channel, O’Brien stated that he is back way before schedule and he is looking forward to starting his pre-season training regimen in a couple of weeks’ time. He mentioned that this training regimen will be tough work spread over six to eight weeks but he also claimed that he is looking forward to it.
The Ireland Rugby Team player stated that he is looking forward to getting stuck in and hopes to hit the ground running by the time the new season kicks off.
O’Brien also admitted it was tough to see the national team prosper, winning its first Grand Slam title since 2009 without him in the side as he would have loved to help its cause. Chris Henry played brilliantly at open side and this could mean his return to the Ireland Rugby Team set up could be delayed a bit longer as well.
He mentioned that it was tough seeing the team lift the trophy without him being there but he added that he was thrilled at the success of the side because he knows how much work the team put into getting together a strong team. He hailed the brand of rugby the team played and is sure the team can do well in the Rugby World Cup next summer.
